Jay
University of Bristol
Hey everyone! I’m Jay and I’m at Bristol. I initially found Bristol medical school challenging. Something important I had to learn was that it is not a competition against your peers. Working for yourself while maintaining a healthy work-life balance is vital.
Practising questions is key however because there are no Bristol-specific questions out there, hopefully my questions will help you out. The content is not extremely hard to learn there’s just a LOT of it so as long as you keep on top of things, you’ll have time to enjoy your uni life.
Ellie
Lancaster University
Hi my name is Ellie! I’m a super chatty 3rd year medical student at Lancaster University and excited to help lots of other medics. Usually got my face in a book but if not you can find me getting lost on a mountain. I would say my top tip for when med school gets tough is to take a step back and remember how interesting and fun learning it can be!
Shuji
University of Sunderland
Hi, I’m Shuji and I’m a second year medical student at Sunderland.
My top advice for medical school would be to try and enjoy it as much as you can. It can be overwhelming as it feels like there’s a lot of content being thrown at you, but it’s important to not to stress so much that you miss out on enjoying your university experience!
I’ve written 500+ mcqs based on my lecture notes from my curriculum that should make it a lot easier for you to navigate your way through the content. Hopefully this will stop you from feeling the stress of falling behind and allow you to enjoy university life whilst achieving top marks!
Subhan
Aston University
Hi, my name is Subhan and I’m a 2nd year medical student at Aston University. Excited to be a part of the team!
TOP TIP for med school: When you fall behind make sure you do your best to do something productive every day and try and follow what’s being taught such that you at least understand it even if you feel it’s passing you by, then give yourself 4-6 weeks to revise before each exam
Italia
Editor
Hi, my name is Italia and I am one of the Editors for AtoZMed! I’m a medical student from the Uni of Leeds and I have just finished 3rd year. I’m currently intercalating at Hull York Medical School in Biomedical Science. I’m really looking forward to my role as Editor as I will be sharing what I’m up to, top tips for medical students, what a normal week in my life is like and any other things I find useful.
Aneesh
Editor
Hello everyone, my name is Aneesh and I’m the editor representative for AtoZmed! Yes, I am the man behind those amazing blogs. Aside from helping people learn about all things medicine, I also share a passion for cricket, politics and food. When I’m not busy perfecting my blogs, you can find me in my backyard, birdwatching.
Nameer
Interview Rep
Hello, my name is Nameer Ali and I’m a 3rd year medical student. I enjoy playing football and going out with my mates. A tip I have for any students is to make sure to do a little bit of work frequently instead of cramming, and also to take time out of your busy schedule for yourself, family and friends so you don’t completely burn out.
Ryan
University of Southampton
Hi there! My name is Ryan, and I am a second year medical student studying at the University of Southampton. Medicine so far for me has been an incredibly eye-opening experience. Over the last 2 years, I have learnt a lot of academic content but also have had the opportunity to attend some amazing placements. I feel that medical school through these experiences has not only taught me a lot but has matured me into a well-rounded person. Whilst studying medicine, I have always managed to find the time to enjoy my hobbies whether it be playing badminton or debating. Next year, I intend to join the sailing club. You can’t come to a university by the sea and not do a water sport! For me, making time for my hobbies has been crucial in maintaining a healthy work life balance. I highly recommend to all those studying or thinking of studying to do the same.
Hasnat
University of Manchester
Hi I’m Hasnat, a second year medic at Manchester. I am a big football fan and like watching and playing many different sports. Balancing university work with my hobbies was made possible by being effective when studying. I did this by testing myself regularly with questions. I have compiled some questions from every case so that you guys can do the same.
Anish
University of Birmingham
Hello everyone! My name is Anish and I’m a Year 3 medical student at the University of Birmingham. So far, I’ve found medical school to be a challenging but rewarding process, where I have learnt so much and taken advantage of MedSoc to make new friends. At the start though, I found it tricky to find a balance and learn the massive amounts of content we needed to know, so hopefully our question bank can help you with just that, it’s how I revise now! Something I’ve learned in medical school though is that it isn’t all work. It’s important to enjoy it as uni goes by quicker than you realise, plus, taking breaks prevents burnout so there’s no downsides!
Ruksaan
University of Leicester
Hey there, I’m Ruksaan!
I’m a 2nd year medical student and AtoZMed representative from the University of Leicester. I would describe myself as a chatty and creative individual, and ready to lend a helping hand where needed.
My advice to you for med school would be to definitely balance work and play! Treat medical school like a 9-5, get what you can done in a roughly set time frame and always always always have time for socials or for yourself to wind down. A burnt-out student and ever-looming exams – never a good combo!
